UAE: Drug dealers sentenced to life get reduced jail terms

An undercover police agent had posed as a buyer and contacted the pair, claiming that he wanted some narcotics.
Two men, who were convicted of possessing, dealing and consuming hashish, have had their life sentences reduced to two years on appeal.
Official court documents stated that the men, an Arab national and another from a GCC nation, were arrested after investigations confirmed that they possessed drugs.

Wool and carpet company Cavalier Corporation has announced the resignation of its chief executive just days after receiving a significant government grant.
Last Thursday the company s board announced it had regretfully accepted Paul Alston s resignation as its head after six years in the job.
Last Monday, Cavalier announced its subsidiary Bremworth had received $1.9 million from the Sustainable Food and Fibre Futures fund to go towards the company s $4.9 million strategy of moving away from synthetics to only producing woollen carpets.
ASHLAND Ashland County authorities were busy last week concluding a drug investigation that included four searches in five days, according to a Monday afternoon press release from the city s police department.
Detectives seized over 100 grams of suspected Methamphetamine, 15.5 grams of suspected Heroin, a gram of suspected Cocaine, 85 grams of suspected Dabs, 45 THC Vape cartridges, $840 in cash, and evidence related to drug trafficking during the searches, authorities reported.
Detectives identified five suspects but are not releasing names at this time. Upon completion of the investigations cases will be forwarded to the Ashland County Prosecutor s Office for review.
Detectives from the Ashland Police Department, and Ashland County Sheriff s Office assigned to the METRICH Enforcement Unit, along with members of the Ashland Police Department and Ashland Sheriff s Office executed four search warrants between the dates of April 15 and April 20 in Ashland County.
